It is realized that to get to see the beauty of Tung None Son is not a piece of cake. The 16 kilometers long trail on foot may seem so far, but easy to walk not too steep. In the vast savannah exits the scenery with a blurry view of pine trees in the midst of wintertime fog all over, and tiny wild flowers of different colors that bloom only in October to November. Salaeng Luang National Park is an attraction named to be the Savannah of Thailand’s Forest a mix between coniferous forests and some kinds of grassland that show off their blossoms when the winter breeze blows, the charm that The Inthanon Reserve Center for Lady’s Slipper Orchid Family, not far away from Doi Mae U-Kor.
Tung Salaeng Luang was announced as Thailand’s third national park on January 29, 1963 with a total area of 789,000 rai or about 1,262.40 square kilometers covering Pitsanulok’s Amphoe Wang Thong, Noen Ma Prang, Nakorn Thai, and Phetchabun’s Amphoe Khao Kor, Wang Pong.
Most outstanding in Tung Salaeng Luang National Park is Tung Son, a vast area covered with grassland it is so named the “Savannah of Thailand Forest” such as Tung Salaeng Luang, Tung Nang Phaya and Tung None Son. Especially in October to November, Tung None Son will be filled with wild flowers in full bloom all over just during these two months. Tourists need at least 3 days 2 nights since they have to get there on foot for about 16 kilometers taking about 5 to 6 hours.
Tung None Son and Wild flowers, in the heart of the national park about 32 kilometers away from the Park Guard Unit number. So. Lo. 8 (Nhong Mae Na), is made up of grassland in alternation with pine forests very beautiful. It is recognized, as Thailand’s another most beautiful flower field. The flowers found here are purple Dusita (U dellphinioi des), yellow Ueong Nuanchan, Ngon Nak (Murdannia gigantea) including Ya Khao Klam, Kradum Ngoen (Melastoma normale), Ueong Ma-Wing (Doritis pulcherrima), Kularb Daeng (Phododendron simsii), Jok Bo-Wai, Moh Khao Moh Kaeng Ling (Nepenthesthore Lii), and Jaraschan.
In addition, near Nhng Mae Na Unit exists Tung Salaeng Luang a savannah over 10 square kilometers wide; Tung Nang Phaya abundant with coniferous forest of pinus merkusii jungh. Stop by Kaeng Wang Nam Yen about 7 kilometers away from Nhong Mae Na Unit; Namtok Zon Some a tiny but beautiful 10 meters high waterfall; admire the stalagmites and stalactites at Tham Duen Dao, and the rock curtains at Tham Phra Wang Daeng and Namtok Kaeng Sopa; a fun white water rafting along Maenam Khek is also available. |
