How to get there:
By Car: Despite feeling a bit tired for the long distance of more than 800 kilometers, it is good to enjoy seeing nature along Highway number 4 or Petchakasem Road.
When you arriving at Chumphon, the gateway to the Southern Region, take Highway number 41 of four lanes to Sarat Thani and then turn right to Highway number 401 for 40 kilometers passing Ban Ta Kun District. Continue driving to ban Pang Guan Neuo Crossroad and turn left to Highway number 415 about 50 kilometers.
When reaching the crossroad, turn right to Highway number 4 for 10 kilometers to Tap Put District of Phang Nga and turn left to Highway number 415. Drive about 30 kilometers until seeing the crossroad and turn right straight to Phang Nga.
This is popular rote for tourists of Koh Similan or Phang Nga Town covering the distance of 836 kilometers, which will take about 10 hours driving.
For Mu Koh Surin trip, having to board the ship at Khunraburi, which is Ranong Province, tourists will have to use another route passing Ranong. When reaching Chumphon, go further along the road of two lanes curving up and down the mountains passing Khunraburi District to Mu Koh Surin National Park Office not far from the pier and park your car at this area.
If you plan to visit Phang Nga Town taking 788 kilometers a shorter distance but steep and curved roads. Nevertheless, it is more convenient to go along the highway to Surat Thani firstly and then forward to Phang Nga where the road is of asphalt. You will be impressed by the wonderful view along the way, the so-called “Mae Hong Son of the South”.
By Bus: Starting at the Southern Bus Terminal, the first route passing Khunraburi and the second one to Surat Thani and Phang Nga or to Phuket and get off the bus at Phang Nga.
Bangkok to Phang Nga new route, leave Bangkok in the evening and reach Phang Nga at early morning except the second-class air-conditioned buses which leave Bangkok in the morning and arrive at Phang Nga at night.
By Air: Thai Airways and Bangkok Airways operate daily flights between Bangkok and Phuket. At Phuket International Airport, take the bus back to Phang Nga about 87 kilometers. The buses (Phuket to Trang) leave the airport every hour. |
