Koh Samae San

Koh Samae San Location: Ban Chong Samae San, or Samae San sub-district, around 14 kilometers away from Sattahip district.

How to get there: From Sattahip district, take Sukhumvit Road in the direction to Rayong. You will pass a grand park with the monument of King Rama VI. Go further for a while and you will find the village. Or you can get there by by-pass road. Drive straight pass the market at the kilometer marker 10 and Sirikit Hospital, you will finally find a clear sign to Samae San Village.

Ban Chong Samae San, or Samae San sub-district is a moderate-sized fisherman village, with approximately 1,240 families. So one of the most common pictures you could see here is lines of fish that were hung out along the beach in order to make dried fish. Although the beach at Samae San is not suitable for swimming our relaxing, its sharp-rocky beach is fantastic for fishing. Here you can find boats to go fishing or diving very conveniently and inexpensively.

Most tourists who come to Samae San will not miss visiting the temple called Wat Luang Po Dam. Luanng Po Dam is a Buddhist priest who is highly respected by local people. His shrine is located on the hill, so it also serves as a fantastic view spot over Samae San Village.

Moreover, located in the Naval Division near Wat Luang Po Dam is Phra Chao Taksin Monument. Phra Chao Taksin is a valiant and skillful king in Thonburi Era. His monument is established to remind younger generations of great ability and deeds of this patriotic figure who has saved our country from being eradicated by Burma a few hundred years ago.

Koh Samae San is a large island near the land. In old days it used to be the location of Samae San community, however, today they all have gone to live on the land by the order of Navy Force.
