Koh Loi |
 Location: Near the clock tower on Surasak 2 Road in Siracha district.
How to get there: Drive along Sukhumvit Road pass Siracha administrative office. When you reach Wang Hin Intersection, turn right into Surasak 2 Road and drive straight on until you find the clock tower and the bridge to Koh Loi.
Siracha district is another important town of Chonburi. From a small fisherman community in the past, today Siracha is full of high buildings and factories. Being the biggest import and export port of Thailand, there will be a lot of cargo vessels or freightliners coming and leaving this port everyday.
Siracha has some tourist attractions in the middle of the sea, they are the four islands named Koh Loi, Koh Si Chang, Koh Kang Kao, and Koh Kham Yai. If you want to get to these islands, you need to start and get a boat at Charin Port, with an exception of Koh Loi, which is an island accessible by car.
Koh Loi is a small island close to the mainland in Siracha district. In the past it used to be only a harbor for large vessels, but today as there is a concrete bridge leading to the island, the place is set up again as a public park. There are seaside shelters for resting, a path around the island for strolling, and some restaurants and souvenir shops for tourists.
On this island there is Green Turtle park and Luang Po Pew Shrine which also serves as a nice view spot over Siracha downtown, siracha harbor, and Koh Si Chang, Koh Kham Yai and Koh Kang Kao from this island.
There are no accommodations on Koh Loi. Tourists often visit this island mainly to appreciate the scenery, enjoy fishing around the port, pay respect to Luang Po Pew who is a very venerable priest, or hire a boat to go further to other islands. |
