Bang Saen Beach |
 Location: In Saen Suk sub-district, around 13 kilometers away from Chonburi Town.
How to get there: From Kilometer marker 104 on Sukhumvit Road, turn right for 3 kilometers. Drive pass Angsila Junction, Laem Taen, and Khao Sam Muk, you will find Haad Bang Saen or Bang Saen Beach.
Bang Saen is one of the most famous and popular attractions near the city, so on every holiday the beach will be crowded with tourists, especially Thai families. The beach stretches approximately 2.5 kilometers long, and is lively with colorful beach umbrellas, sun beds, and banana boats under rows of coconut trees. Moreover, at the northern end of the beach there is a cape that serves as a public park called Laem Taen.
In fact, this seaside area used to be just a deserted and unoccupied area in Saen Suk sub-district. Until when the General P. Pibunsongkram became the prime minister, he initiated a housing project for tourism here. According to this project, hotels and bungalows were built along the beach, and Haad Bang Saen was known for tourists then.
Bang Sean Beach starts from Bang Sean Circle to S.S. Bang Saen Beach Hotel. The sandy beach is clean but not very white due to the sediment from Bang Pakong River. Yet the gradual slope makes it a nice and safe spot for swimming.
At night, unlike Haad Pattaya, Haad Bang Saen would be pretty quiet. Os it is an interesting choice for those who prefer a peaceful night at the beach to a busy, lively street.
If you really spend the night at Haad Bang Saen, it is very nice to get up early, rent a bicycle and ride it along the beach. The wonderful scenery and fresh air would be a good start of the day.
Both tourists and local people love to come to this spot to enjoy dinner and sunset scenery in the seaside restaurants.
