These flower fields on the stone ground may not be of much difference, as they are made up of the same kind of wild flowers found in other places. But the uniqueness is the small ponds with lotus flowers of new varieties on the mountaintop, the natural marvel that exists only here.

Phu Sa Dokbua was established as Thailand’s 75th national park on December 30, 1992. Its landscape is made up of piled-up mountains, with huge stone grounds scattering on the mountaintops in many areas.

These mountains possess abundant forests of different kinds, and are source of many a river. The stone grounds on top are filled all over with fields of tiny wild flowers that bloom in late rainy season up to early winter around November to December each year.

A tour to the sights on Phu Sa Dokbua can be done within on day on foot up the mountaintop taking about two hours, the attractions to pass of which include Phu Pah Taem, about 300 meters before the hill ridge. Pah Taem is so called since here prehistorically paintings 99 in total were found scattering along its 60-meter long cliff.

Further next up the hill ridge on the left is a beautiful viewpoint Pah Ma Klua. Backwards from this point to the right, called Phu Pah Taek, a beautiful viewpoint revealing a panorama of the northern scenery. Up from Phu Pah Taek lie the flower field is Laan Dok Mai.

Phu Wat and the grassland of dwarf hill evergreen forests Teng Rang. On this stone ground, tiny pretty wild flowers such as Dusita or Utricularia Delphinioides,Soi Suwanna, Jok Bo Wai, Aen Ah and Kradum Ngen or Melastama normale that bloom in late rainy season up to early winter are found.

From the dwarf Teng Rang forest, there exists a hill called Phu Sa Dokbua with about 5 to 6 basins where water is available all year round. Here is where a variety of tiny lotus, which is very pretty in full bloom naturally grows, the hill is so-called Phu Sa Dokbua out of this marvel.

A tour on Phu Sa dokbua can be done within one day, as the route up the hill is not difficult possible to get there in the morning and back in the afternoon. Recommended is to bring with your food for lunch to make it a picnic on the mountaintop. Overnight stay in not impossible at the National Park’s two lodges and camping ground but tourists need to prepare necessary things including food and drink for themselves.
