Koh Po, the Small and Superbly Serene Island |
Location: Moo 4, Tambon Koh Lanta, Amphoe Koh Lanta, between Koh Bu Bu and Koh Lanta.
Although there are not many tourist activities on Koh Po, it is an alternative island you could easily visit since it is located close to Koh Bu Bu and Koh Lanta. If traveling from Koh Lanta to Koh Bu Bu, you will see Koh Po on your right or toward the south. Tourists could visit this island to explore the beaches and see the seaman villages.
Koh Po has altogether 4 beaches: Haad Tha Kang, Ao Lolawa or Ao Po, Ao Hin Sam Kon, and Ao Nai Ban. On the island, there is a small concrete road linking Ao Nai Ban and Haad Tha Kang together. The road is around 800 meters long, with a side road to Ao Lolawa or Ao Po.
Haad Tha Kang is the longest and the most beautiful beach of Koh Po, located in the west of the island. It stretches from the north of the south, and from this beach, there is a small concrete road leading to Ao Nai Ban. Down in the south of Haad Tha Kang is a pier of Koh Po. From this pier, tourists could go further to Koh Lanta Yai and other islands surrounded.
Most of the areas in the east of Koh Po are covered with fishermen houses, and the only beach in the east is a small one called Haad Nai Ban.Ao Nai Ban located in the east of Koh Po. It is a major residential area of the island, thus it is a very nice place to observe the islander’s lifestyle. Conch (strombus spp.), one of the marine products that people on Koh Po usually catch and sell to restaurants both on Koh Lanta Yai and Krabi mainland. |
