Koh Li Di, the Islet with Wondrous Nature |
Location: Moo 4, Tambon Pak Nam, Amphoe La-Ngu.
Located around 5 kilometers from Ku Koh Phetra National Park Headquarters at Ao Nun or around 7 kilometers from Pak Bara Pier, Koh Li Di is a small island, the nearest to the land among the 22 islands of Mu Koh Phetra National Park.
In fact, Koh Li Di has an even smaller island attached in the northeast, called Koh Li Di Lek. But it is an island with bird nets concessions and getting onto the island is prohibited.
As for the main island or Koh Li Di Yai, it is the location of the National Park Protection Unit. The island offers beautiful limestone mountains, two white sandy beaches at the front and the back, as well as mangrove forests and various kinds of marine animals.
Although Koh Li Di is just a small island with no facilities, it would be memorable experience to stay in a tent along the beach and appreciate the pristine nature at this island.
The dock in the east of Koh Li Di; from this spot, there is a walking path to national park ranger unit as well as the park’s lodging houses for tourists.
The front beach of Koh Li Di is a 300 meters long white-yellowish sandy beach. During the low tide, you can even walk across the beach to Ao Amphu.
The beach at back or the east of Koh Li Di could be seen from Ao Lamphu. It is a wonderful spot for watching sunrise, swimming, and snorkeling.
The mangrove forest of Koh Li Di, when the tide gets low you can walk around until you reach ranges of coral reefs. If you walk futher along the beach you will find Laem Wa Hin, a cape that is beast for watching sunset. Similar to Laem Pak Bia of Krabi, ranges of coral reefs at Koh Li Di are visible during the low tide. You can walk to see such scenery at the beaches both in the north and the south, but please be careful while treading since coral could be very fragile. |
