Thing to do at Koh Si Bo Ya
Exploring the beaches: In the west or the back of the island, there is a wonderful beach called Haad Laem Pi Pi with the only one resort of the island, Si Bo Ya Resort. As for the front of the island, there is another beach called Haad Laem Son. The two beaches mentioned link together and stretch as far as 5 kilometers long.
However, they are very good for a swim since the sea is pretty cloudy. Most visitors, there fore, come here for a stroll and watching sunset and other islands scenery instead.
Seeing the locals’ way of life: Koh Si Bo Ya has altogether 3 Muslim villages with approximately 800 families. They are Ban Lang Koh (located close to Haad Laem Pi Pi), Ban Si Bo Ya (located in the middle of the island and the location of tourist pier), and Ban Khlong Toh (located in the front beach close to Haad Laem Son). Most of the residents are fishermen, while others are traders and rubber farmers.
Islands sightseeing tour: Tourists could also charter a motorboat to nearby islands like Koh Jam, Koh Lao Ka, Koh Lao La, and Koh Phai. You can stop for diving at Koh Phai, fishing around the reefs between Koh Jam and Koh Phi Phi, or spend the whole day exploring the beaches of Koh Phi Phi Don Phi Phi Le and Ao Maya.
The boat fare is 1,500 baht a day for a regular boat and 6,000 baht a day for a large fishing boat.Accommodations: There is only one resort on the island called Si Bo Ya Resort, located in the west of the island around Laem Pi Pi. Nevertheless, most visitors prefer to visit this island during the day and stay overnight at Koh Jam instead, since there are more accommodations here. |
