Koh Lan, Beauty of the Beaches

Transportation to Koh Lan Location: Opposite to Pattaya Town, around 7.5 kilometers away.

How to get there: There is passenger boats form South Pattaya Port (Balihai Port) to Koh Lan everyday. The journey takes approximately 45 minutes by passenger boat, or only 15 minutes by speedboat.

In the past, people who came to Chonburi would choose to visit Koh Si Chang rather than other island. Nowadays, however, Koh Lan tends to be a more appealing choice, because of the beauty of the beaches and the underwater world. Moreover, the overall atmosphere of Koh Lan also proves to be much peaceful, whereas the transportation to the island is convenient. At Koh Lan, tourists could travel to different beaches by boarding mini-bus or riding motorcycle. Although there are some inexpensive accommodations for tourists on the island, most people choose to visit Koh Lan only within a single day.

Haad Ta Waen
Haad Ta Waen is the longest and most famous beach of Koh Lan. Located in the northwest of the island, around 1.5 kilometers away from Na Ban Port, Haad Ta Waen is a 750-meter-long sandy beach. The strikingly clear sea and white fine sand are really wonderful for swimming and sunbathing. Along the beach there are plenty of restaurants and beach chairs, whereas at the left end of the beach is a cape, which is the location of a small port and Koh Lan sub-district office. Moreover, along the tile-paved road leading to Haad Ta Waen, just before reaching the beach, tourists could also watch the whole bay scenery very well.

Next to the left of Haad Ta Waen is another beach called haad Sung Wal. It is a small beach, only around 150 meters long. The place is much more serene than at Haad Ta Waen, although their beauty is pretty the same. However, there are no restaurants or facilities at this beach, because most tourists come here for sunbathing only.

Haad Tian
Located in the west of Koh Lan, Haad Tian is second only Haad Ta Waen. The beautiful sandy beach stretches 500 meters long, lively with a lot of sea activities and food stalls. Not far from the beach are also some coral reefs for diving. If Haad Ta Waen is affected by strong winds or huge waves, Haad Tian would become the main port of the island instead. At the particular time, the beach of Haad Tian will extraordinary lively.

Haad Samae
If you want place quieter than Haad Ta Waen and Haad Tian, but with some facilities, we would like to recommend Haad Samae. It is a moderated-sized beach around 300 meters long. Most tourists love to come here for sunbathing because of its peacefulness. You can also walk further to the north of the beach to Laem Tian and Haad Tian very easily, since the distance is only 200 meters away.

Koh Lan BeachHaad Nuan
Located in the south of the island, Haad Huan is a small beach around 20 meters long. Along Haad Nuan are beach chairs and some accommodations for tourists. The eggshell colored beach is pretty quiet, nice for swimming and sunbathing. At both ends of the beach are small capes where ones can dive to see coral reefs. Also sometimes tourists might be able to see small monkeys (Macaca fascicularis) at this beach.

Haad Thong Lang
Located in the north of the island, Haad Thong Lang is a small and peaceful sandy beach. There are no motor activities here, so it is pretty serene and private. You can get there quite easily by driving northward from Na Ban Port, following the roadsigns.

Haad Ta Yai
Haad Ta Yai is the only beach in the east of the island. It is a completely stony beach with no facilities or sea activities. Thus, this beach is not very popular for most tourists. Yet, if you want some isolation or privacy, you can as well come here. From the front of Haad Ta Yai, Koh Sak could be seen very well.

Location: The north of Koh Lan, around 500 meters away.
Diving at Koh LanHow to get there: You can hire speedboat or motorboat form Haad Ta Waen to the island. The price is negotiable. Koh Sak is a small island in a long, curved shape. There are two beaches here; the more popular one is in the north, approximately 250 meters long. Most tourists come here to swim and sunbath. The other beach is in the south, around 80 meters long, with some coral reefs for skin-diving. There are tourists visiting Koh Sak everyday.

Koh Krok
Location: The northeast of Koh Lan.
How to get there: You can hire speedboat or motorboat from Na Ban Port to the island. Koh Krok is a small bald island. It is the first island to be seen from the boat from Pattaya to Koh Lan. There is a short sandy beach in the east. Most people do not get on the island; they rather dive around it instead.

Nong Mon Market is the largest local products market and the most visited local market of Chonburi. On both side of the road are more than a hundred stalls selling dry seafood, desserts, fruits, and preserved food.
